KRZYSZTOF GROEN

Krzysztof Groen (Lodz, Poland, 1996) came to Veendam at the age of four. He has been playing guitar since he was twelve and started singing a year later. He mainly sings country music, but also songs in Groningen dialect such as Oadem mien Oadem. It is a translation of the song by Peter Schaap by Edwin Jongedijk. In 2015, Groen started the Johnny Cash cover band Little Cash. During the performance of that formation, he acquired the title of Groningen Johnny Cash. In 2016, Groen won the audience award at the Tellerlikkerfestival in Winschoten. In 2017, Groen reached third place at the Grunneger Laidjesfestival with the songs Grunneger jong and Noar de volgende ronde. He also won the audience award there.
