WEEDWAY

WeedWay are a 5-piece Reggae band from Dublin’s Northside, originally formed in July 2004. Eclectic mix of sounds,shapes and atmospheres with positive tones and vibes inna Reggae Style …An Introduction to WeedWay. WeedWay formed in 2004 when Jake Foran, Gary McGuirk & Mark O’Neil got together because of their love of reggae music. They then set about learning their instruments & they quickly got Ronan Byrne involved and began to learn some of their favourite songs. Then they enlisted the services of Drummer Anthony Kenny who was still Drumming for reggae band KingSativa & after some rehearsing they performed their first couple of gigs under the name WeedWay in support to KingSativa. At one of those support gigs they met Derek Fenlon as he was in the audience to see WeedWay perform on recommendation from a friend. After been highly impressed by WeedWay, Derek Fenlon was eager to join the band, and after some persuasion was welcomed in as a third guitarist. A week later and after only two rehearsals with their new guitarist, WeedWay began their first residency which lasted five years & gave the band time to tighten up and develop and also gave them a steady local support. Upon seeing WeedWay perform in Dublin, Australian band Dilip ‘N the Davs went home and wrote a song called “Reggae Gone” to which they gave Weedway a mention in the lyrics. Weedway went on to reside in another few venues in Dublin and also played in a lot of venues across Ireland including festivals such as The Electric Picnic, Vantastival, Body & Soul, and Knockanstockin & Booleigh Ska Festival. They have also been invited to play at numerous Scooter Raleigh’s in different parts of the country. The band have been also been invited to talk and perform on radio stations such as Near FM & Newstalk and have also been invited over to Australia to perform by Joe Ward from Netgigs. In all that time WeedWay had been composing and performing their original material but until now had not recorded any material to the standard required by them.
