THE GREAT AFFAIRS
Initially conceived by singer/songwriter Denny Smith as a vehicle for the more introspective, acoustic-based material his decidedly louder, Modern Rock-leaning band had little use for, The Great Affairs has evolved over time to be something of a musical catch-all, encompassing elements of Americana, Power Pop, & Classic Rock, and incorporating all of them into their proprietary blend. In late 2020, they released their 5th LP ‘Everybody Moves, Nobody Gets Hurt.’, co-produced with Grammy-winning Mixer/Engineer Michael Saint-Leon(Buddy Guy, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram). It featured the singles “I’m Alright”, “Worn Out Souls”, and “High On Rose”, as well as a guest appearance from Wendy Moten, first runner-up on Season 21 of NBC’s The Voice, who shares lead vocal duties with drummer Kenny Wright on the gospel-tinged “Three-Leaf Clover”. Their most ambitious, diverse release to date, the album was praised for its rugged, yet refined sonics and deft songcraft.
