Tina Lebea born in South Africa named Albertina, grew up with her two sisters at her Grandparents place in Soweto, Johannesburg. In her childhood she was inspired by the black music, Miriam Makeba and Ike & Tina Turner. At the age of 15 she had to leave the school due to the “June 16 Soweto Youth Uprising” in 1976. Because of boredom, Tina went to work and joined a tailor’s manufacturing company. She supported her family and took responsibility at the earliest stage. With 17 years she was scouted as a model and an actress in Johannesburg by a famous model agent. Besides her model career, she was touring nearly 4 years throughout South Africa with “Pyjama Tops” comedy and was the first black actress performing with white actors during the Apartheid regime. She got the lead role in “Ngwanaka o tla nkgopola” Soap Opera. This movie was the first broadcasted film for the Blacks. In 1981 she was nominated for the “Best Black Actress” in South Africa and succeeded for her role in “Ngwanaka o tla nkgopola”.

LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW

Taunjua: Hello Tina and welcome to Museboat!

ARTIST NAME: Hi TJ, Andy and everyone with Museboat Live channel. Thanks for having me here today!

Taunjua: You know that we really love your music on Museboat so we want to know what is behind all of that. Can you explain your music production process?

ARTIST NAME: I was recording Tina Turner cover songs at LemonJuice Records with producer LJ Guru. He recognized the uniqueness of my voice and proposed to produce songs that would suit my soul. I was called to sing something for humanity, to inspire,to heal , to uplift and to find peace within. Based on my voice range, he produced a song and then I worked on lyrics, lead voice and backup vocals. It was an ongoing process to arrange the song, to fit the lyrics in and to create the song.

Taunjua: How do you come up with ideas for new songs?

ARTIST NAME: Everything became easier for me for the upcoming songs. Looking around the world, I realized how much the world needs to be healed and to be shown the light. Spirituality changed my life with a bigger impact on the world. Through my dreams I received messages that I provide in my songs. These puzzles are used to develop the lyrics of my songs. I meditate on the song and see the bigger picture.

Taunjua: What song that you have written, have you found the hardest to write?

ARTIST NAME: Hey, obviously it was Restrictions. Because, I have seen the creation and brainwashing towards humanity, the world was a victim of circumstances. I was in a perpetual state of fright writing the lyrics, but I did not hesitate to call a spade a spade. Then my voice was shaky while rehearsing the song but my intuition and courage told me to do it and no one can silence me.

Taunjua: Last year you took part in the Züri Rockt festival, where you sang a song by Tina Turner. Which Tina song is your personal favorite?

ARTIST NAME: It was not only one song. It was a 90 mins Tina Turner show at the Zuri Rock Festival. Oh, yes I loved all her songs but my favorite song is We Don’t Need Another Hero.

Taunjua: What are your plans for the future? Especially the short-term ones?

ARTIST NAME: Okay from my side I do not plan for the future. I live in the here and now. I am adaptable and receptive. I am open to the infinite possibilities that the universe offers me.

Taunjua: We know that you also worked in modeling. How are the fields of music and modeling different? Is there something that connects them?

ARTIST NAME: In modeling they choreograph the show and expect you to walk exactly the way they want. With music there is entertainment you can perform the way you want. It enables you to attract, to magnetize, inspire and give love to the audience. The connection is big, because in both you are seen by the world and of course you are the spotlight.

Taunjua: What have you been doing during the pandemic with regards to music?

ARTIST NAME: I was focused on live performances of Tina Turner shows and South African folklore music before the pandemic. During the pandemic everything was forbidden for almost two years. right? I used the opportunity to write songs and became a song writer. Laughs

Taunjua: What is the coolest venue you have played?

ARTIST NAME: Ohh, performing the Tina Turner shows at Zuri Rock Festival was definitely the coolest venue. with thousands of people. Well I can say for me it remains an unforgettable show.

Taunjua: OK, this one is from Andy. What was the inspiration behind the song "Gratitude"?

ARTIST NAME: The inspiration behind the song Gratitude, first of all, we have to be thankful for our five senses. For the good things in life, being thankful for what Mother Nature has bestowed us with. The beauty of this world, family, friends, and all amenities It is also a reflection of how lucky we are when something good happens, it does not matter if it is big or small because I still believe and know that gratitude is the key to success in life.

Taunjua: What are your plans for the future?

ARTIST NAME: My plan is to make this world a better place. Really, to live in harmony with a positive mindset surrounded by peace, happiness, accepting, and knowing who I am.

Taunjua: Is there anything else you want to say to our listeners?

ARTIST NAME: Dear listeners of Museboat, we all have a limited time to stay on this planet. We should try to use this period for the purpose of transforming ourselves into what we desire to be.

Taunjua: Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule for the interview, Jessie.

ARTIST NAME: Ohh, thank you for the privilege I have received for this interview. Thank you so much, Bye for now. Laughs
