Michael Kareng, 32, was born in a small town in Papua New Guinea, where he discovered his passion for music at an early age. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant sounds of his culture, music became an integral part of his life. From singing along to local tunes in karaoke bars to participating in community events, Michael's love for music was evident. As he matured, Michael delved deeper into the world of music. He began composing and writing his own lyrics, drawing inspiration from the rock genre. While many musicians in Papua New Guinea gravitated towards local pop and reggae, Michael found himself captivated by the powerful melodies and lyrics of rock music. His musical journey was greatly influenced by his idol, Bon Jovi. Michael resonated with Bon Jovi's storytelling and the emotional depth of his songs. This inspiration fueled his desire to pursue a career in rock music, despite the challenges he faced in a country where rock is not the prevailing genre. Michael formed a new band called Strive, where he serves as the songwriter, composer, and lead vocalist. The band has just released its first single, which is now available on Spotify, SoundCloud, and various other music marketing platforms. This exciting development marks a significant step in Michael's musical career, as he aims to bring his unique sound to a broader audience.
