ASAL HAZEL

A singer-songwriter blending alternative R&B and indie pop, she caught the attention of some of our faves early on and kept the momentum going with standout collaborations. Her vocal control is truly stunning, and I don’t think people appreciate just how sharp her writing really is. She’s worked with Stones Throw icons like MNDSGN and Grammy-winning producer Knxwledge. She also (secretively) writes for other artists—one we know of is R&B girl Jenevieve. Raised in the San Fernando Valley, Asal’s journey started in performing arts schools, though she was too shy to share her voice back then. Now, it’s her introspective songwriting that keeps us hooked. When I saw her performance at the Lodge Room, I knew she was something special.
