Paulina Caine is the lead singer and lyricist of Basic Desire, an Australian electronic duo renowned for blending electronic sounds with melodic vocals. Together with Kubik, the composer and producer behind their music, they create some of Australia's most beautiful and haunting electronic tracks. Originally from Poland, Paulina’s classical training laid the foundation for her musical journey. After moving to Australia, she transitioned into the pop music scene, performing with a range of original and cover bands, including Flame, On the Edge, Chemical Jane, Accents, Jamez Jonez Experience, and The Entertainers. These experiences shaped her versatile vocal style and stage presence. Paulina's highly expressive voice is the driving force behind Basic Desire, enabling the duo to craft a unique and emotionally resonant sound. Her vocals have been compared to the delicate sweetness of Julee Cruise and the dynamic range of Sarah Brightman, blending vulnerability and power in every performance. What truly sets the Basic Desire team apart from other local bands is the personal journey behind their music—one of their members is living with dementia, and unfortunately, the condition is progressing. It would be an incredible joy for him to hear his compositions on the radio, a moment that would mean so much to both members of the duo.
