About
Singer-songwriter Calida Sari (KAH-lih-duh SAH-ree, IPA: /kəˈlɪdə ˈsɑːri/) is a Boorloo (Perth)- based artist whose deeply personal songwriting explores disability, resilience, isolation, and invisibility. Growing up on Whadjuk Noongar Country in Western Australia, she was immersed in the folk, country and pop records that filled her family home, sparking a lifelong love of music. Calida began playing piano at 10, guitar at 12 and writing songs by 13, quickly developing a distinctive voice shaped by raw honesty and emotional storytelling. By 16 she was already performing live and recording original material. That same year, her song “I Need More” was featured on the Safe Sex compilation album and received airplay and an interview on Triple J — an early milestone that signalled her songwriting potential. Today, Calida’s work sits at the intersection of art, advocacy and disability activism. While chronic pain and neurodivergence can make regular live performance difficult, her focus on recording allows her to share powerful, intimate songs rooted in lived experience. Drawing on themes of disability, chronic illness, trauma, mental health and motherhood, Calida’s music seeks to create connection for listeners who often feel unseen. Through honest storytelling and emotionally resonant songwriting, she offers a voice of solidarity to the disability and chronic illness community, transforming personal struggle into art that is both vulnerable and empowering.
